The Alternative Information & Development Centre (AIDC) was established in 1996 in response to South Africa’s democratic transition. It works in partnership with popular movements to produce research, facilitate education, build capacity, and support campaigns for socio-economic and ecological justice. AIDC is known for its work on energy democracy, tax and budget justice, and advancing a “just transition” away from extractivism toward a low-carbon, wage-led, equitable economy.
